August 19th is World Humanitarian Day. How do you plan on making a difference? This day helps us mark a time to reflect on the struggles of others around the world and to think about the change we can influence when we all work together as a Forever family.
Maynor Aragon is an outcome of the mission of Rise Against Hunger to change the lives of people who have suffered from hunger and economic struggle. He is a young man filled with gratitude, hope and aspirations. He is a young man who after meeting him during the Global Rally 2018 in Dallas, Texas, changes your view on how simple volunteer operations can make a huge impact.
Hunger can leave a child with little room to think or learn. A day at school could feel like an eternity when the pangs of starvation just don't quit. According to the World Food Program, 66 million primary age children attend school hungry every day. But, when an organization comes together to package meals in partnership with Rise Against Hunger, it changes everything.
Forever Giving was able to partner with Stop Hunger Now once again for an amazing week of giving at an event in Johannesburg, South Africa. The goal was to go above and beyond last year’s achievement of funding 200k meals that were packed in Singapore by a group of volunteers. After two days of high-energy, enthusiastic meal packaging, and the $92,600 donation from Forever Giving, volunteers were able to pack and give over 365,600 meals to a local village.
The meals will be distributed through SHN’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) Connect Programme in South Africa. With the amount of meals that were funded at this event, Forever Giving will feed 1,923 children five meals/week for an entire year! With the money that ECD will save in not needing to purchase food for students, it will be able to invest in first aid kits, teacher training, educational supplies, and sanitary facilities for the children.
We just want to say a huge THANK YOU for all the volunteers who partnered with Stop Hunger Now for the event. It was truly inspiring to see everyone work together to take one step closer to ending world hunger.
Special Day for Special Kids, hosted by the Scottsdale Rotary Club, was started 31 years ago in an effort to honor and provide a fun day for special needs children and their families in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Families and children were able to enjoy food, carnival rides, games, prizes, and even a petting zoo for hours on end on March 19th, 2016.
Because this annual event is free for special needs kids and their families, the Scottsdale Sunrise Rotary Club reached out to local charity organizations and businesses for financial support. With a donation of $2,500 from Forever Giving, early 3,000 people experienced a day of joy, hope, and overall good times. We are lucky to have been a part of a charity that gives back to those who struggle with disabilities, and their family members who stand by them each and every day.
"No child should go hungry" is what AZ Brainfood is working to establish here in Arizona, USA. Every week, AZ Brainfood volunteers discretely deliver bags of food to elementary-age children who would otherwise go without food over the weekend. Based out of Mesa, this charity has been feeding less fortunate children in the Phoenix, AZ area since 2009.
In remembrance of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, Forever Giving partnered with AZ Brainfood on November 26, 2015 to fund over 2,000 bag lunches with its donation of $10,000 at the annual Gilbert Turkey Trot event.
Thanks to all the support and donations from individuals across the globe, Forever Giving continues to lend a helping hand to children and families in need.
