August 19th is World Humanitarian Day. How do you plan on making a difference? This day helps us mark a time to reflect on the struggles of others around the world and to think about the change we can influence when we all work together as a Forever family.
Maynor Aragon is an outcome of the mission of Rise Against Hunger to change the lives of people who have suffered from hunger and economic struggle. He is a young man filled with gratitude, hope and aspirations. He is a young man who after meeting him during the Global Rally 2018 in Dallas, Texas, changes your view on how simple volunteer operations can make a huge impact.
Hunger can leave a child with little room to think or learn. A day at school could feel like an eternity when the pangs of starvation just don't quit. According to the World Food Program, 66 million primary age children attend school hungry every day. But, when an organization comes together to package meals in partnership with Rise Against Hunger, it changes everything.
December 1st was World AIDS Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the disease and touching the lives of those who suffer from it. Forever Giving decided to join in on the message of AIDS day and donated to the Zimbabwe AIDS Orphan Society (ZAOS). We would like to thank Frederic Alerstam and the rest of the Scandinavia office of Forever Living Products for the recommendation of this organization. They not only have made recommendations but have continually helped raise money for Forever Giving and for that... we are Forever grateful.
We are happy to share that with the donation from Forever Giving, ZAOS will be able to distribute basic healthcare to the orphans that live within their camp. From dental attention to regular check ups, these children will now be able to receive care they had been missing. Thank you again to all of the incredible people that donate to Forever Giving, because of YOU we are able to Make A Difference.
Severe illness can consume anyone, but when it is our children who are ill it is the most heart wrenching. Forever Giving has continually concerned itself with the well being of children and recently have found two organizations in Hawaii who are doing the same. HUGS and Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation were the recipients of a generous grant from Forever Giving which was presented at the Forever Global Rally 2013 in Honolulu. And they were chosen for good reason...
Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation is an organization that focuses on assisting children and their families upon their diagnoses of cancer. In partnership with Forever Giving, Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation will be donating $24,000 in financial assistance to families with children who are suffering from cancer. This will provide a cushion for families who may not be able to afford their mortgage, car payments, or even medical treatments not covered by insurance. Tara Humphreys, a representative from HCCF, shares "Often times one parent will leave their job in an effort to take care of their ailing child, and in turn their financials take a hit. Families struggle to meet bills and purchase food, we do our best to help with that."
In addition to financial assistance Forever Giving donated an additional $1,500 to HCCF's Kokua Basket project. These baskets are given to newly diagnosed children and their families. These "survival kits" contain everything from gift cards, stuffed animals, blankets, or anything else that may help comfort them during their hospital stay. It also contains a book that tells the family the type of cancer their child has and the treatment that is to come.

In addition to HCCF there was a donation made to:
Forever Giving's second contribution was made to HUGS. While HCCF focused on the financial and initial trauma of diagnoses, HUGS focuses on long term emotional, psychological, and social support. HUGS often times calls themselves a family because that is what they are there for, to strengthen families in the face of adversity. HUGS provides peer support groups, family events, emergency respite, and provides a place for these ill children to no longer be looked at as patients and just be kids. With Forever Giving's $24,000 donation, HUGS will be providing an Airfare Assistance Program to its families. This program will allow for families to transport their child to Oahu or the mainland for procedures not offered on their island. It will also provide family members on neighboring islands the ability to fly in to see these children in times of emergency. Ultimately it allows the family to be a family in times of need.
Forever Giving is pleased to have found two organizations in Hawaii that are providing a service to ill children and look forward to seeing the effects these donations will have on the families.
Traveling nearly 1500 miles from Texas to New York, a truckload filled with Forever Natural Spring Water and Forever Fast Break nutritional bars donated by Forever Giving is en-route to one of the hardest stricken areas in New York by Hurricane Sandy. The supplies will be dispersed among 200 American Red Cross emergency response vehicles that are beginning to circulate through some communities; distributing meals, water and snacks to the millions of people who have been displaced by the natural disaster. With access into many areas still difficult, Forever Giving teamed up with Forever Living to gain the FEMA clearance needed to deliver the supplies to the areas in which American Red Cross needs them the most.
“We’re mobilizing more disaster workers, response vehicles and relief supplies now,” said Charley Shimanski, Senior Vice President of Disaster Services for the Red Cross. “The Red Cross response is already very large and could be our biggest U.S. disaster response in the past five years. It will be very costly and we need the public’s help.”
In addition to the relief supplies donated, a significant financial contribution was made to the American Red Cross today by Forever Giving to help provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to those affected by the disaster.
“Following the devastating storm, many of our colleagues have been without power for the past few days throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast areas,” said Gregg Maughan, President of Forever Living Products International. “By partnering with Forever Giving to support the American Red Cross, we are able to join their efforts to provide immediate assistance to the millions of Americans who really need it.”

American Red Cross
Founded in 1981, the American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need. Our network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share a mission of preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world, through five key service areas of: disaster relief, supporting America’s military families, lifesaving blood, health and safety services, and international services.
The first of five brand new air conditioning units sponsored by Forever Giving was installed this past week in one of the homes that Save the Family Foundation of Arizona operates as temporary housing units for homeless, working poor families. Replacing an extremely inefficient unit that was over 20 years old and in constant need of repair, the new A/C unit will provide huge savings on energy costs and do a much better job of keeping the house cool; providing a comfortable living environment for not only the family currently living there, but the many families that will be occupying the house in the future.
The purchase and installation of this unit was made possible by a donation Forever Giving made to Save the Family in August, a portion of which would sponsor the purchase of five new a/c units that will serve over 20 families over the course of 15 years.
It’s always incredible to see the generous support of our donors in action. “Thank you all so much for the amazing gift you gave us in August and all it will do for our families!" - Tim Lidster, Community Outreach Manager for Save the Family.
Homelessness is one of the leading adversities facing children and families in the U.S. today. The national statistics are disheartening:
These figures made an incredible impression on all of us at Forever Giving as we began seeking ways we could assist our local community. One particular organization that stood out for their work in battling this epidemic was Save the Family Foundation of Arizona. For more than 20 years, Save the Family has helped over 10,000 homeless children and their parents rebuild their lives. They carry out their mission to “empower families to conquer homelessness and achieve life-long independence” by providing homeless, working poor families with temporary housing, job placement and life skills training.
In 1989, Save the Family housed its first four families in their transitional living program. This program provides homeless families with temporary housing and rehabilitative services for nine months. One very special part of this program is a walk through their Dynamic Way – this is a special hallway where homeless families, who often own just the clothes on their backs, can stock up on supplies such as clothing, kitchenware, toiletries and toys before moving into their temporary home.
Save the Family now places almost 300 families a year in over 191 temporary housing units across the Phoenix valley. Maintaining these units requires quite a bit of cost, and that’s where Forever Giving recognized a need and stepped in to help.
Anyone who has ever experienced a summer day in Arizona can appreciate the importance of having a well air-conditioned place you can escape to in order to beat the heat. With the average life span of an air conditioner being only 15 years and over 191 units for Save the Family to operate, many of the existing air conditioners in their housing units are in dire need of repair and replacement. Forever Giving has partnered with Save the Family to sponsor the purchase and installation of 5 brand new air conditioning units, which will provide 400 homeless children and their parents with relief from the scorching summer heat of the desert.
Another significant operational expense for Save the Family is the cost of beds for their housing units. To aid with this expense, Forever Giving has provided funds for the purchase of 40 full-size bed units which, for some children, will be the very first bed they have ever slept in.
These efforts would not have been possible without the support of the many generous Distributors of Forever Living Products who funded this project. We asked their Chairman & CEO, Rex Maughan, and his lovely wife, Ruth, to present the check to Save the Family at Forever Living’s recent Super Rally in Phoenix, Arizona. Upon receiving the check, Save the Family’s Community Outreach Manager, Tim Lidster, stated all of our appreciation to Forever Living the best when he said “Thanks to you all for making this possible.”
In an underprivileged neighborhood located in Port-Bouët, Ivory Coast, one organization gives the young women who reside there a hope for a better future. The Centre Féminin Sainte Thérèse de l’Enfant Jésus (Saint Theresa Christ Child Feminine Centre) focuses on educating and training women to help them become self-sufficient and escape the dangerous environment in which they live, where many women turn to prostitution, drugs and other unhealthy means to make money. Through the Centre’s practical training in hair dressing, pastry-making, sewing, embroidery, and classes ranging from childcare to writing to mathematics, nearly 100 girls are given the opportunity to make a better life for themselves.
According to the Centre’s Executive Director, Sr Analia Cristina Coman, “Since the center opened we have 4 graduation years trained in sewing, pastry-making, hairdressing, and computer technology skills. Among the girls, some have found work in the center’s cooperative, others in families or independently work from home in their neighborhoods. Several girls were further motivated to pursue their studies at night school.”
To assist the organization in upholding its mission, Forever Giving partnered with Centre Féminin by providing support to the center’s initiatives. The funds donated by Forever Giving will enable the charity to purchase much-needed kitchen equipment for the center’s cooperative where the young women sell their baked goods; including major items such as a gas cooker, refrigerators, a freezer, and full range oven. Additional funding provided by Forever Giving for the purchase of classroom supplies, sewing machines and computer equipment will further equip the Centre with the tools it needs.
Thanks to the support and donations from Forever Giving and the many Forever Living Distributors who contribute to the organization, Centre Féminin will continue to make a difference in the lives of the women in Port-Bouët.
In the Ivory Coast, it is not uncommon to find children with mental disabilities marginalized by society and misunderstood by their families. One organization is working to prevent that from happening by offering support to families and education for their children with special needs. La Page Blanche, a rehabilitation center created by the Association for the Reintegration of Children, coordinates education for children with needs ranging from cerebral palsy to Down syndrome and autism. Technology and art play an important role in their rehabilitation and social integration.
There are roughly 150 children whose learning processes will be enhanced from a donation by Forever Giving of new computers equipped with special education software. A camera and video projector were included to help record and review their progression along with art supplies for activities. Thanks to the support from our distributors, Forever Giving was able to make a significant donation to help pay for these supplies. Forever Living Products Country Manager JB Amichia, presented the donation in an emotional ceremony organized by the center’s staff and children.
"With this donation, Forever Giving is helping us parents and staff to give the opportunity to our disabled kids to develop at their level, their talent in a sound and joyful environment,” said Dr. Anne Marie Dem, president of the Association for the Reintegration of Children-La Page Blanche.
Once again, a special thank you to our generous distributors for making this donation possible!
This year, the rain won’t be putting a damper on the holiday celebrations at Little Saints Orphanage in Lagos, Nigeria. Thanks to the generous contributions to Forever Giving from thousands of supporters like you throughout the year, the orphans that call Little Saints their home now have a newly renovated facility to take pride in - just in time for the holiday season.
The 3-month renovation project funded by Forever Giving included a complete roof and ceiling replacement, new kitchen cabinets, a brick partition to prevent flooding, 200 new chairs for their common areas and 20 new wardrobes for their dormitories.
Gary Shreeve, Vice President of Africa for Forever Living Products, attended the final inspection and presentation of the Forever Giving improvement project; representing the many Forever Distributors who support the charity from all over the world. Gary was joined by Jackson Adagala, Forever Living’s Director of African Operations, Caroline Tay, Country Manager of Forever Living Products Nigeria, and the Founder of Little Saints Orphanage, Rev. Dele George, who expressed her appreciation of Forever Giving’s partnership:
“We deeply appreciate the new roof, ceilings, chairs, kitchen cabinets and wardrobes funded by Forever Giving. Your contribution has raised the standard of our home tremendously and has given the environment a beautiful outlook. It has also boosted the confidence and morale of all the children. It has strengthened their faith in our love for them. This improvement has inspired the children to aspire for greater things and reach for greater heights. It has encouraged them to appreciate excellence, as well as make them enviable and admired amongst their peers. The stigmatization of orphans is still ongoing in our country, but the high standard of care and education at the Little Saints Orphanage has made it easier for our children to utilize opportunities available to them outside the orphanage.”
As 2011 draws to a close, we want to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of people who continue to help make projects like this possible through your generous donations to Forever Giving. A special thank you to the Distributors of Forever Living Products - your support helps us improve the quality of children’s lives.
All of us here at Forever Giving wish you and your family a very happy and safe holiday season. We look forward to continuing to partner with you to Make a Difference in 2012.
Lagos, Nigeria - Forever Giving recently broke ground on its newest project, its first in Nigeria, where the non-profit organization has partnered with Little Saints Orphanage to assist with much-needed repairs to two branches of their facility.
Renovations are underway to repair the boys and girls dormitories in the Lagos neighborhoods of Akowonjo and Abule Egba. Projects include the construction of a new brick partition to prevent rain from flooding their kitchen area and the complete roof and ceiling replacement of their multipurpose hall, which has been leaking for months. Through the donation made by Forever Giving, Little Saints will also be able to purchase four new charcoal cookers, twenty new wardrobes for the boys dormitory and 200 chairs for their common areas, in addition to the aforementioned renovations.
With Forever Giving’s support, these much overdue improvements to Little Saints’ facilities will make it possible for the orphanage to continue the mission of their Founder, Rev. Dele George, to provide a safe, nurturing environment where the children of Lagos can find shelter, care, education, social development and eventual rehabilitation through fostering or adoption - making room for future generations of children in need to have the same opportunity to thrive.
The project is scheduled for completion in November 2011. Gary Shreeve, Vice President of Africa for Forever Living Products, will be in attendance to celebrate the orphanage’s updated facility.
About Little Saints Orphanage
Home to over 120 abused, abandoned and orphaned children, Little Saints was the first non-governmental, indigenous orphanage to be approved by the Lagos State Government, and it continues to be recognized as one of the most reputable and reliable orphanages registered with them. The success of their three-tiered rehabilitation program results in many orphans going up for adoption & fostering; making room for more underprivileged children, many who are weathering the storms in the streets of Lagos, to have a home and hope. Over one thousand children have benefitted from their program since its inception in 1994.
To us at Forever Giving, he represents the generosity of a remarkable group of people – the Distributors of Forever Living Products. To them, he symbolizes something more. Perhaps it’s his unmistakable golden yellow color and brown cap that is reminiscent of their beloved Forever product: Forever’s pure, stabilized Aloe Vera Gel.
Maybe he’s simply won them over with his sweet rosy cheeks and cute little pot belly? Whatever the case may be, he represents a brighter future for tomorrow, and he’s quickly becoming a favorite of Forever Giving supporters around the world!
Aloe Baby made his initial debut in March at Forever Living’s 2011 Asian Rally in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where Distributors of Forever Living Products showed their support of our most recent project in Japan by donating 100% of the proceeds to Forever Giving from each Aloe Baby and Forever Giving t-shirt sold to our Japan Relief efforts. Since then, he travelled to Vienna, Austria where he was welcomed by more than 11,000 Distributors attending the 2011 World Rally in April. They too raised money and awareness for Japan from the proceeds of each Aloe Baby and Forever Giving t-shirt sold. Most recently, Aloe Baby has been spotted around the globe, often in the hands of Forever Giving’s youngest supporters, the true “Aloe Babies” – children of Forever Living’s Distributors. Many of them have shared photos of their Aloe Babies with us through Forever Living’s Facebook fan page at www.facebook.com/foreverfan. To see some of our favorites, click below.
We want to thank the Distributors of Forever Living Products for their continuous support of Forever Giving and the worthy projects that Aloe Baby represents. If you too would like to purchase an Aloe Baby in support of Forever Giving, keep an eye on the Forever Living events in your area. We’ve heard that he might just make an appearance at a local Rally near you!
