Bringing Comfort to Patients at Phoenix Children’s Hospital for Giving Tuesday 2022

On the last Tuesday of November, people around the world celebrate generosity through Giving Tuesday. This global movement encourages people to give of their time, skills, goods, money or advocacy. It also sheds light on the work of nonprofit organizations and helps them raise funds for their causes.

For Giving Tuesday 2022, the Rex Maughan Forever Giving Foundation focused its efforts on bringing comfort to children at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The foundation donated 160 aloe baby stuffed animals that each had a hand-written note of encouragement from employees at Forever Living’s Home Office in Scottsdale, Arizona. The notes were written in various languages including Spanish, Mandarin and Japanese so all of the children, no matter what their first language is, could feel cared for and supported.

The mission of Phoenix Children’s Hospital is to advance hope, healing and the best health care for children and their families. It treats many high-risk patients who often spend a prolonged amount of time in the hospital. Tokens of love, like the aloe babies, are a small but powerful reminder that the children are not alone in their healing journey.

“When you’re a kid and all you want is to be at home, in your own bed, comfort items are incredibly important,” says Tim Harrison, Vice President, Corporate Partnerships & Special Events at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. “The Rex Maughan Forever Giving Foundation’s donation to Phoenix Children’s Hospital means that more kids get to hug a stuffed animal tonight. Improved well-being of sick kids is no small gift, and we are incredibly thankful of community partners who make it possible.”

Contributing to the spirit of Giving Tuesday has been a continual effort from the Rex Maughan Forever Giving Foundation. For Giving Tuesday 2021, the foundation donated $10,000 to Rise Against Hunger. These funds helped Rise Against Hunger in its effort to provide medical supplies to at-risk populations in the Dominican Republic.

“While we aim to make a difference in the lives of others year-round, having a dedicated day like Giving Tuesday is extra impactful,” says Garin Breinholt, Forever Living’s Executive Vice President of the Americas. “I’m grateful for our team who came together to help the kids at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.”
